Sharing Folders

Sharing Folders – Click on My Computer > C: - Right click on the folder you wish to share/access remotely. In this example 'New Folder'

 

The following box appears – click on the ‘Share this folder’ button

 

 

Then Click on Permissions… you will get the following box

 

 

Click on remove to delete ‘everyone’ then click on ‘Add’, you will get a list of users – see below. Find the user you want to give permission to and click ‘Add’ Add as many as you like. Always add yourself!

 

 

When you are done – allocate permissions – by ticking the ‘Full Control’, ‘Change’ & ‘Read’ buttons – Click ‘Apply’. Always make sure you have given yourself all three! You may want to give some users 'Read Only' access only. Bear in mind if they have 'Full Control' they can delete, change and even rename your files.

 

 

Then Click ‘Apply’ & ‘OK’ on the Properties screen. Make sure you know the PC asset number. (this is found on the red & silver label)

 

To access folder from other PC

Click on ‘My Network Places’ > ‘Search’ & Type in the EBH number – (this is found on the red & silver label) – if the PC is on it will show up in the right hand window.

 

Double Click on EBH9…. In the right hand window and a list of shared folders will be displayed

 

 

If you have permission, clicking on these will show the contents. Users with 'Full Access' will be able to view contents and make changes.
