Smiler Of The Week

Smiler of The Week' award w/c 24th April

Bentley Closing In!!!!

A Message From Acting Manager Paul Giles ('Smiler of The Week' award founder)

"A couple of things to note... Lets face facts here boys we've had a crap last week or so. We picked up 1 point out of 9 available and got whopped in the semi. It has certainly been a week to forget. But on the whole this has been a fantastic season. We have had 2 successive promotions and the standard is getting better each year. We have lost players and gained new players. But I have to say that the team spirit is the best that I have ever known in my time at the club. We have got a great set of lads together who all want to win every match. But shit happens - and when we lose we just need to get on with it - as we have shown by winning on Tuesday....we all know the hard work that Gaffer and Abromavich put in and we all appreciate it ... lets enjoy the last 5 games of the season and aim for 4th place. What a superb season it would be to finish 4th and a cup semi appearance..... Cheers Gilo"

Vice-vice skipper Paul Giles launches his 'Smiler of The Week' award.

As he said back in October... "I recommend a new weekly award to run alongside Man of the Match - Grinner of the Game!!! The geezer who grins, smiles or enjoys the game the most wins the award!!! As for the comment from CHEEKY SCAMP - with all those hair bands it reminds me of Johnny Gaz!! And it doesn't matter whether we have a hard image or not - it is not the hardest team that wins the league - it is the one that smiles the most!!!!!!"

The 'Smiler of the Week' award is back!! says Paul Giles...

"I haven't done anything on this section for ages.... Basically we have all been smiling for ages as we are on a great run of form.... This will put a smile on our faces - we have won 9 out of our last 11 matches... surely the best return in Maxtels history..... Our defence is the second best in the league and we are scoring more goals than ever before..... But the one thing to remember is to keep smiling - our intensity levels have gone up over the past few months and the expectation level bar has gone up as a result of our excellent form.... the true 'team spirit' test will come when we go a goal down or have a disapointing week.... the essential thing to remember is KEEP SMILING!!! For this week - 'Smiler of the Week'   is Super Davey Lewis - 1st goal in the Maxtel colours.... and a miraculous recovery from his dodgy knee injury!! To be fair to lad - someone had crocked his knee and he was trying to run it off... but as soon as the goal went in there was no stopping him!! ..... Gilo

The latest 'Smiler of the Week' award has been awarded - this has gone to Ian Jones, after the defeat at the hands of Saltley - he was still smiling - see below

The latest 'Smiler of the Week' award has been awarded - this has gone to Matt Clarke, in the substitute appearance versus St. Annes on 2nd January, the club policy of only buying one shirt size gave the big man a problem, fortunately he did not get booked for taking his shirt off & he took the banter brilliantly nearly getting a goal - very many congratulations to Matty on his 'Smiler of the Week'   award!!

The first 'Smiler of the Week' award has been awarded to Justin for his hilarious attempt finishing in training on Thursday 9th December.

As a special treat for all the strong 'Smiler of the Week' contenders this week here is a picture of Sky Sports News team Dave Clark and Kelly Dalgleish. Beware though if you stop smiling lads, I'll change it Bryan Robson - he never smiles and look where his team is.
