Sewell's Masterclass

Each week Head Coach Adam Sewell reveals his fascinating insight into the match - here's this weeks verdict..

Rumours are that Adam Sewell has decided to call it day day, here is what his statement might look like...

"I will be 20 soon, I am not getting any younger and have asked myself many times 'How long will I last?' I have been doing this for a very long time - 2 years at United alone," says Sewell. "Mental fatigue has played a part but of course there is the desire to go out at the top"

"Leaving Maxtel United is going to be very difficult indeed, especially when you have been as successful as we have. You get used to that success. The feeling you get from winning is like a perfume that lasts a long time. You never get tired of it and you do everything to maintain it. Maxtel have been incredibly successful, when people experience success for a long time they start to think that winning is the norm, not the exception. The reason I stayed for so long is that, frankly, I didn't think it could get any better anywhere else."

"Being at the top has taken its toll, and I a now looking forward to retirement, the game has changed. It is infinitely more difficult these days. There is too much expectation, too much pressure. It has become very difficult for me to take at times. The media and even team-mates exert immense pressure on you. Eventually it wears you down."

"There are so many things I still want to do, one of the big reasons why I am leaving is to spend more time with my family and friends such as Dave Lewis. I hope I can make up for lost time and I wish the club every success in the future"

The game yesterday was both mentally and physically exerting (by that I mean tiring), but everyone did their jobs superbly. We looked dangerous throughout the game, and although there defence was resilient, we kept on plugging away, and eventually broke them down. Didnt think they were a very special team, just didnt really have any outstanding players, or any that were sub-standard. Any team who cant break down me and craknell at full back has to have a problem!!

sorry lads, cant be bothered with any white board features, still living it up after the win.

hahahaa"

Alright biccies, as i have no job to go to today I thought I'd send you my verdict of the game.

Overall, I thought we played well but weren't really tested by 'chopper' and co. In the first 15 minutes it thought we looked a bit shaky and that it would be a problem getting points off these lads. However, team spirit showed as no-one started to heckle or harass any other team mates, unlike last season, where matty duval always had a confidence building comment or two.

Rather than working as individuals, a sense of knowledge and understanding was apparent as the majority of the team worked as units. It really showed when at one point both gilo and craig moved sidewards together, with craig backing up gilo by being a few paces behind.

The passing was superb, and both bob and 'branno' created space behind the full backs(see diagram 1) which in turn created some problems.

In all, a great performance, something that I'm proud of. However, finishing could be worked on, as there was at least another five or six chances we could have put away.

Boys, you've all set the standard pole very high, and i expect for you to keep this level and perform well on next week.

Your all fighting for your places.
